COGS001: Introduction to Cognitive Science
Fall term, 2005

(Also known as: CSE 140, Linguistics 105, Philosophy 044, Psychology 107)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

How do minds work? We survey a wide range of answers to this question, focusing especially on ideas embodied in computational or mathematical models. Topics include perception, action, thought, learning, memory and social interaction.  For details, see the schedule.

COGS001 (under any of its cross-registered names) may be counted towards the General Requirement in Formal Reasoning & Analysis (Gen Req IV). It has been given at Penn for more than ten years.

BLACKBOARD PROBLEMS UPDATE:

We've been informed that the people responsible for Blackboard here at Penn are working to improve its reliability. They also suggest the following approaches for restoring Blackboard access, if you encounter difficulties:
1) Press your browser's "reload" button. If you do not regain access to Blackboard immediately try reloading repeatedly.
2) Close and restart your browser.
We will continue to do everything we can to work around any difficulties that come up. Although Blackboard is the official source for all announcements and course materials, the course website is frequently a good place to look if Blackboard is unavailable.

Introduction to Cognitive Science is now using Blackboard.
