  First Place Finish for Penn's Electric Race Car
 
Penn Electric Racing has taken home top honors at the Formula SAE competition. The event pits custom-built, high-performance racecars against one another. This year, the team’s REV1 car took first place among electrics overall, winning seven of the eight categories. These included overall design, cornering, endurance and time-trials on a full racetrack.

  Penn Researchers Develop Scar-like Culture Systems to Treat Fibrosis
 
Dennis Discher, Robert D. Bent Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, conducted in which he developed a "scar in a dish" in order to uncover mechanisms that cells use to sense fibrous tissue. The system will be helpful for understanding the roots of the scars' stiffness, and ultimately lead to treatments that would help revert the tissue to its normal consistency.
