Dean Eduardo Glandt hosts a tour of Penn's new home for bioengineering, Skirkanich Hall. Dedicated in October 2006 as a part of the School's $57 million bioengineering initiative, this advanced laboratory facility was named "Philadelphia's Best New Building" by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Come experience it for yourself and share Dean Glandt's pride in this architectural wonder.

 

Meet "Little Ben" - Penn's Autonomous Car

Location: Wu and Chen Auditorium, Levine Hall

"Little Ben", Penn Engineering's autonomous car finished fourth out of 89 teams this fall in the Urban Challenge, a national competition sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to foster the development of autonomous robotic ground vehicle technology. Created by a group of Penn and Lehigh University students and faculty, this robotic car drove through a 60-mile urban course without human intervention. Penn Engineering Associate Professor and Raymond S. Markowitz Faculty Fellow Daniel Lee, director of the project, offers his unique insight about the success of "Little Ben" and shares a video of its incredible abilities. You don't want to miss this amazing look into the future. (Limited seating is available; to reserve a seat, please register online and arrive by 10:40 am.)
