Summer Barbecue for Grad Students

July…fireworks and parades highlight the celebration of summer in Philadelphia. On the Penn campus, the month is also marked by the annual summer barbeque for SEAS graduate students. One day each summer, the Engineering Alumni Society fires up a huge charcoal grill and cooks up burgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers for the graduate engineering students.

This event encourages grad students who are stuck on campus for the summer to get out of their labs to enjoy at least one day of bright Philadelphia summer sunshine. Students who rarely see each other get a chance to chat over a typical American barbecue lunch. An Alumni Society event for over ten years, the barbecue has now become a tradition.

This year’s barbecue was held on Thursday, July 17 outside of Levine Hall.
