Foundations

The Whitaker Foundation -The site has grant applications and funding guidelines, abstracts of all research grantees, annual reports listing all grants awarded, news in the field, summaries and detailed profiles of all academic programs in the field (as well as other overview information such as definition of biomedical engineering, career opportunities, job surveys, enrollment figures, etc.) a directory of all research grantees with contact information on each.

Directories Anderson's Timesaving Comparative Guides for Biological Reagents - links to molecular biology reagents and suppliers, listed by item.

BioSupplyNet - online directory for research products and services. It allows searching in a database of more than 15000 products and services form more than 1400 suppliers.

Biotechnology Companies Register - general list includes biofeedback products and other medical devices. Has keyword search capability.

CatoSource - the business-to-business directory for biotechnology and pharmaceutical development. We also have features of interest and employment opportunities.

Penn Bioengineering Industry Links - Provides links to companies involved in the design, manufacturing, research, or development of biomedical related products and services, categorized by specializations.

Organizations American Society for Healthcare Engineering - organization for facilities managers, engineers, clinical engineering/medical equipment managers, and professionals in the fields of health care design and construction, and safety.

Australian Society For Biomaterials, The - national focus for research, education, development and regulation of biomaterials and medical devices.

BIOCOM San Diego - trade association representing the many biotechnology, medical device, medical equipment and bioagriculture companies.

Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)

BioMedNet - club for biomedical researchers and clinicians

BME-net - Biomedical Engineering Network

Council on Biomedical Research and Development - consortium formed to enhance the field of biomedical research and assist emerging biotechnology firms in the region.

Danish Society for Biomedical Engineering - national society affiliated with the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Institute of Biomedical Engineering Technology (IBET) - Established to assist Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Technicians in the management of biomedical or clinical engineering technology.

Institute of Biomedical Science - IBMS is the professional body for biomedical scientists in all fields of work, including medical laboratory scientific officers, in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) - promotes the study of all areas of biomechanics at the international level, although special emphasis is given to the biomechanics of human movement.

International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine

North Central Biomedical Association (NCBA) - provides a forum for medical professionals on the biomedical engineering and technician levels.

Scottish Bionetwork Association - Formerly known as the Scottish Biomedical Association.

Society for Biomaterials - professional society which promotes advances in all phases of materials research and development in the biomaterials field.

Southern California Biomedical Council - industry association whose mission is to encourage networking and promote medical research and manufacturing.

Technical Group on Footwear Biomechanics - scientists study how footwear functions on the human foot in sports and other functional endeavours.

Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute - promotes Texas' medical technology industry.

Journals Annals of Biomedical Engineering - The official journal of the Biomedical Engineering Society.

Journal of Neuroscience, The - official journal of the Society of Neuroscience.

Nature Neuroscience - professional monthly journal from the publishers of Nature.
