Graduate Admissions
The application
for graduate study in Penn's Chemical and Biomolecular
Engineering Graduate Group may be found on the World Wide Web. The
web-based application allows you to begin, renew, or change your
information at any stage before submitting the application. It also
allows you to check the status of your submitted application and
whether the department has received your supporting documentation
using a web browser.
Application Requirements:
GRE: official score report for the Graduate Record Exam
is required. Our school code is 2926 and our department code is 1001.
TOEFL: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English,
unless the official language of their country is English. This may
be done in the following way: by completing three (3) full years
of coursework in an academic program at a university or college
in the United States prior to matriculation or by submitting an
official TOEFL score of at least 600 (written test) or 250 (computer
based test) or Internet-based test score of (100). Our school code is 2888 and our department code is 64.
Recommendations: Two (2) recommendations are required. One
must be from a faculty member who is familiar with the applicant's
scholarly ability.
Statement of purpose: A discussion of academic and career
objectives.
Transcripts: One (1) official transcript in English must
be provided from each institution attended for two (2) or more semesters.
Secondary school transcripts are not required.
Fee: A non-refundable fee of $70.00
The statement of purpose should be submitted on-line. The two recommendations
letters may also be submitted on-line (or your recommenders may
submit them in hard-copy to the Graduate Admissions address listed here).

Please do not send material that is not required such as extensive
resumes, additional recommendations, unofficial or non-English transcripts,
papers or reprints, personal information not requested, etc.
Applications will be evaluated by the faculty only after
all required information and supporting documentation have been
received, including the application fee.

Financial Aid:
Fellowships and assistantships are available only to PhD students.
No financial support is available for MSE students. We recommend
that applicants for the MSE program specify their own financial
resources in the application. Further information regarding finances
