Graduate Student Handbook: Space Assignments and Regulations
a) Desks
All full-time Ph.D. students will be assigned desk space for
their own use. First-year Ph.D. students will obtain a temporary
office assignment (from the Office Manager in Room 311A Towne)
until they have been assigned an advisor. Each student's desk
will eventually be located in a laboratory or office associated
with his or her advisor.
(b) Keys
Keys to laboratories and offices may be obtained from the department
office, room 311A Towne.
(c) Copy Machine
A copy machine in Room 311A Towne is available only for small
research-related copying jobs. Copy machines are available in
the Engineering Library for class-related or student copying.
Fifteen (15) or more copies as well as copies for academic use
(those made by teaching fellows) must be made in the Copy Center,
166 Weiss Tech House (formerly GRW). Photocopying for academic
use must indicate the course number to which charges should be
made.
(d) Telephone
Long distance calls and calls outside the Philadelphia area for
research use can be made in the CBE department office, Towne 311A.
Use the phone on the back desk, the only line not for use is the
very last number of the row. Office phones can only be used for
campus and local calls. A pay phone is available on the ground
floor of the Towne Building for personal calls.

school's computing system. Accounts are available from the office
of Computing and Educational Technology Services (CETS), 169 Levine
Hall (formerly GRW).
