Student Life
The
high caliber of both our undergraduate and graduate student body
is a source of pride for Penn's Department of Chemical and Biomolecular
Engineering and an attractive feature for prospective students.
Active graduate and undergraduate student associations coordinate
both social, academic, and professional events.
ChEGA ()
Penn's Chemical Engineering Graduate Association (ChEGA) represents
the academic and social interests of CBE graduate students. Each
Spring, it organizes weekly seminars presented by graduate students
in the department. It also plans holiday parties, happy hours, and
other social events. In addition, ChEGA serves an important role
in providing student input to departmental policies and assists
the department in hosting weekends for prospective graduate students.
AIChE
(http://dolphin.upenn.edu/~aiche/index.htm)
Penn's AIChE Student Chapter organizes events to expand undergraduate
student knowledge of what exactly chemical engineers do in their
professional careers. The group sponsors plant or chemical facility
tours, trips to the annual National Student Chapter AIChE conference,
career seminars, and various events in which students have the opportunity
to converse with the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering faculty
outside of the classroom.
