How do I make a copy of an email?

This article explains how to create a duplicate copy of an email. Please follow the instructions under your mail client. The examples demonstrate how to move a message to a folder named 'false-positive', suitable for reporting legitimate messages that were caught by the SEAS SpamBlocker.


Eudora for Windows

Creating a new folder

  • To create the mailbox, click Mailbox > Dominant > New... Type the name as "false-positive". Leave the "Make it a folder" check box UNchecked (which is the default).

Copying a message

  • Hold down Control, and click and drag the message to the destination mailbox. During the drag, you will see a little plus icon beside the message indicating that it will copy the message (rather than move it).

    Note: You can use the Shift key as well. The destination folder can be open or closed.

Creating a new folder

  1. Check Tools | Account Settings -> Server Settings -> Advanced... Make sure IMAP Server Directory is "~/Mail/", and make sure "Show only subscribed folders" and "Server supports folders that contain sub-folders and messages" are both UNchecked.
  2. To create a mailbox, click File | New | Folder... Type the name as "false-positive". Leave the "Messages Only" radio button selected.

Webmail

  1. On the left column of the message index is a checkbox for each message. Check the message(s) you wish to copy.
  2. Immediately above the message index is a set of three drop down boxes. Click the Messages to drop down box, and pick false-positive (or New Folder if you need to create one).
  3. Beside the "Messages to" drop down box, click Copy.
  4. If you selected New Folder, type "false-positive" at the prompt, and click OK.


AppleMail

Creating a new folder

  1. Check Mail | Preferences... -> Advanced Tab. Make sure the IMAP Path Prefix is "~/Mail/".
  2. To create the new folder, click Mailbox -> New Mailbox... Type the name "false-positive".
