What is LaTeX?

TeX, LaTeX, SliTeX, etc. are a family of programs for text formatting and typesetting. LaTeX (pronounced "lah-tek") is the most commonly used. By adding a few simple commands to ordinary text, you can change fonts and sizes. LaTeX will also more advanced functions as arrays, boxes, and tables.
