What is the difference between my PennKey and SEAS account?

All SEAS students, faculty, and staff have a PennKey account and a SEAS account. Each account can have different passwords, although many people choose to set them to the same password to avoid confusion. Most SEAS services accept both passwords.

Penn wide services such as U@Penn, the Penn Directory, and logins to many lab machines require a PennKey. SMB mounting of your SEAS home directory requires the SEAS password. All other SEAS services will accept either. We are working towards getting all services to accept PennKey and then restricting the SEAS password to special circumstances.
