  Engineering's Clark Scholarship Program: Building A Community of Leaders
 
In the largest one-time gift to undergraduate support in the University's history, the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation awarded Penn Engineering with a $15 million gift to establish the A. James Clark Scholarship Program. The program is intended for first-generation college students and those with demonstrated financial need. As such, Clark Scholars will receive personalized mentoring and academic guidance.

  Penn Engineering Establishes Intel Center for Wireless Autonomous Systems
 
Penn Engineering has established the Intel Center for Wireless Autonomous Systems. The research group, made possible by a three-year, $1.5 million gift from Intel, will investigate how robots and other machines can best wirelessly communicate with each other in high-stakes situations. The Center is a part of a series of Intel Labs-sponsored academic research partnerships and Alejandro Ribeiro, Rosenbluth Associate Professor in Electrical and Systems Engineering, will serve as its director.

  Penn Engineering's Danielle Bassett Wins Top Prize in Complexity Science
 
Danielle S. Bassett, Eduardo D. Glandt Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor in the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, is the recipient of the 2017 Lagrange-CRT Foundation Prize. The prize, given by the Institute for Scientific Interchange Foundation in Turin, Italy, was created to encourage and honor researchers working in the field of complex systems.
