Under Secretary of Energy to Lecture at Penn Engineering
Arun Majumdar, Director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E) and Acting Under Secretary of Energy, will present the lecture, "ARPA-E: Catalyzing Energy Breakthroughs for a Secure American Future," on April 27 as part of Penn Engineering’s Technology, Business and Government lecture series.
Prior to joining ARPA-E, Majumdar was the Associate Laboratory Director for Energy and Environment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. His highly distinguished research career includes the science and engineering of energy conversion, transport, and storage ranging from molecular and nanoscale level to large energy systems. In 2005, Dr. Majumdar was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering for this pioneering work.
Recognizing an increasingly significant inter-relationship between the rapid growth of new technologies and the business and governmental sectors, the Technology, Business and Government lecture series brings distinguished individuals to Penn Engineering to interact with students and faculty on broad issues affecting technology and science, research and policy.
This lecture is open to the public and will take place on Wednesday, April 27at 4:00 p.m. in Wu and Chen Auditorium, Levine Hall. Opening remarks will be delivered by Congressman Chaka Fattah.
