Nader Engheta Receives IEEE Photonics Society 2017 William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award

Nader Engheta, H. Nedwill Ramsey Professor in Electrical and Systems Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2017 William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Photonics Society. Engheta is being recognized, "for development of, and pioneering contributions to extreme-parameter metamaterials in optics and photonics."

Engheta's research interests span the fields of nanooptics and nanophotonics, metamaterials and plasmonics, and optical nanostructure modeling, including nanoantennas, nanocircuits, and nanosystems. Nader is also investigating bio-inspired sensing and imaging, as well as physics and reverse-engineering of polarization vision in nature. He and his group have been developing the concept of optical lumped nanocircuits based on material nanostructures, with the goal of opening the possibility of nanoelectronics with light.
