The M.S.E. (Master of Science in Engineering)
degree requires a completion of ten course units, including
a thesis based on original research or a research project
report based on a nonexperimental investigation of an approved
topic.
The Ph.D. degree requires a minimum of twenty
course units, which may include the ten taken for the M.S.E.,
an oral examination after the first year and a half of study,
an original dissertation, and a dissertation defense. The
M.S.E. degree is not a prerequisite for the Ph.D.

Advanced Degrees", given to all entering students
or available from the Department office on request.
