Companies and Sponsorship

EMTM students are drawn from a diverse mix of companies and industries. They represent organizations of all sizes, from both the private and public sectors. Many organizations support EMTM candidates with full or partial financial sponsorship. Financial support is not a requirement, however, and approximately one-third of students are self-sponsored.

Among the types of participating organizations:

  • Financial service firms which have seen the role of technology change from a facilitator of business processes to a driver of changing business models.
  • Established, multinational corporations and telecoms dealing with technology infrastructure issues to accommodate new models of outsourcing, global supply chain networks and growing customer expectations.
  • IT firms positioning core capabilities and business process outsourcing in a highly competitive, fluid and global market.
  • Pharmaceuticals, biochemicals and high-techs where the most important asset of the firm is the creativity and productivity of their R&D teams.
  • Government and military organizations where adapting emerging technologies and understanding emerging security issues are vital.
  • Medical and legal enterprises that rely increasingly on complex technologies and information systems for performing their tasks and managing their operations.
  • Consulting and venture capital firms whose competitive advantage lies in understanding the realities of all of the above.

The common challenge of these organizations lies at the intersection of business strategy and emerging technology development. At EMTM, students learn how to anticipate trends, leverage technology for competitive advantage and lead with confidence. With EMTM's alternate weekend schedule, students start to apply this new knowledge to the benefit of their organizations from the time they begin the program.

“As a result [of joining EMTM], Tim has significantly and exponentially evolved his technical systems design role into a trusted advisor status for providing functional business solutions. His education and application of learned practices has allowed Tim to provide business-impacting solutions and processes, which have direct correlation to the success of our organization and our clients. In doing so, Tim has also reshaped and elevated the expected performance for all System Engineers within Cisco.”
