Beyond models and theories, EMTM students hear from successful leaders whose careers have involved the sophisticated use and management of technology in widely different contexts. Among those who shared candid perspectives and advice this Fall:

On Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12, Clare Hart, President and CEO of Factiva, shared insights and experiences from her own career and current position leading a Dow Jones & Reuters company that provides content, technology and services to the investment community; and Gary Martin, EMTM'95, Technical Director of the US Army's CERDEC, Communications-Electronics, Research Development and Engineering Center, discussed "Leveraging Army/DoD Technologies for Homeland Security/Defense.

Earlier this term, John Carrow, CIO and Vice President, Information Technology, at Unisys Corporation offered an insider's view on "IT Governance: Get Flat or Get Flattened" as part of EMTM's Emerging Technologies Seminar series.

"Leveraging Army/DoD Technologies for Homeland Security/Defense"

Gary Martin, EMTM'95 Technical Director, Communications-Electronics, Research Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) US Army Research Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM)

As Technical Director for CERDEC, Gary Martin is responsible for Science and Technology programs involving the development of advanced Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence and Information Warfare, and Night Vision & Electronic Sensors technology for the US Army. A 1995 graduate of the EMTM program, he also holds a BSEE from Norwich University and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. Mr. Martin's awards include the Superior Civilian Service Award and the Commander's Award for Civilian Service, as well as the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.

CERDEC delivers superior technologies, products and services integrated into a "system of systems" architecture; global, seamless, secure robust communications; owning the night; owning the spectrum; knowing the enemy; and winning the information war.
