Admissions Corner: 6 Steps to Fast-Track Your Application
Is There Still Time to Apply? Yes If you are interested in joining EMTM in Fall 2006, here are 6 steps
to take to complete your application by May 15 (GMAT or GRE results due by May 31).
1. Let us know that you plan to apply. If you have not already been in touch and would like us to watch for your application,
contact Paige Harker, Admissions Manager, by phone at 215-898-2897, or e-mail
emtm-admissions@emtm.upenn.edu.
2. Start your online application. Log-on, open an
account, and begin as soon as possible. All the instructions you need can be found online including how to send requests
for recommendations. There is no fee to start an application, and you can work on it over several sessions. When you are ready
to submit your application, there is a non-refundable application fee of $150, which you pay by credit card.
3. Set in motion items that require coordination with others.
A. Recommendations. Two professional recommendations are required from supervisors or professional colleagues. To ensure
that your recommendations arrive in time, we suggest that you: (1) Encourage your recommenders to use the online option to submit
their evaluations. (2) Ask them to submit recommendations by Friday, May 12. (3) Follow up with them on May 12 as a
reminder/confirmation.
B. Transcripts. For previous school transcripts, you may submit a preliminary self-report of your transcript information
using the online application. You may also submit a copy of your official transcripts, which will be used for evaluation purposes
only. If you are admitted to the program, you will need to arrange for official transcripts from your previous academic institutions
to be sent directly to the EMTM Office by mid-July.
C. Letter of Endorsement. If you plan to attend full-time (Fridays and Saturdays) a "Letter of Endorsement" from your
organization is required. This letter does not imply financial support, but confirms that your organization supports your application
and will grant the time away from work needed to complete the requirements of the program, including the 4-day Orientation Session
in late August. The letter should be on company letterhead, signed by your supervisor or an authorized executive. We can send you a
Sample Letter of Endorsement on request.
4. Schedule a date to take your GMAT or GRE by May 31. Check online at
www.mba.com (for GMAT) or www.gre.org
(for GRE) to find out about testing locations, dates, and availability. For more information, see EMTM's
GMAT/GRE Tips (180KB PDF). EMTM
accepts official scores from within the past 5 years.
5. Complete and submit your online application information and essays by May 15.
6. When in doubt, call or e-mail: 215-898-2897 or
emtm-admissions@emtm.upenn.edu. Paige Harker,
Admissions Manager, can provide information and answer your questions.
