Emerging Technologies Seminar (ETS): 2006-07
EMTM's 90-minute "Emerging Technologies Seminars" introduce insights on emerging technologies, issues and ideas. Over a
2-year cycle, students meet with research and business experts in a variety of areas, from bioinformatics to robotics to
investing in emerging technology.
Offered over lunch and in the evenings, each lecture and Q&A is led by a different faculty member or industry expert. Special
executive panel roundtable sessions bring together executives and academic experts to debate, discuss and field questions on
topics that bridge technology and business.
In the 2006-07 academic year, ETS themes have included entrepreneurship, bringing new ventures to market, energy, and security
technology. In addition to sessions led by individual experts, three executive panel discussions brought together leaders
from a variety of industries who provided perspectives on: Raising Money (for entrepreneurial and corporate ventures), How
Executives Select the Right People (see story on Recruiting the Best), and
the Business and Technical Prospects of Renewable Energy. See below for a complete index of topics and presenters, and related
descriptions.
(All EMTM students, alumni and invited guests are welcome to attend ETS lectures. For prospective students interested
in a selected topic or session, please inquire with the Admissions Office: 215-898-2897 or
emtm-admissions@emtm.upenn.edu.)
