Admissions

Calendar and Deadlines

Program Dates:  July 12- July 31, 2009.

The dates are now set for SAAST 2009! Check back in mid-January '09 to submit your application.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed their freshman year in high school (ninth grade) by June of the year they wish to participate in SAAST. (Students who will have graduated from high school before the start of the program are ineligble.) All applicants must have a good overall academic record (minimum B average), with preference for strong performance in mathematics and science subjects.

In addition, students applying to Biotechnology or Nanotechnology must have completed at least two of the following three courses by the time they enroll in SAAST: biology, chemistry, and/or physics. No other SAAST courses have any prerequesites, other than completing 9th grade.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid: US Citizens
Financial aid is available to students with demonstrated financial need who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Admission decisions are on a need-blind basis for all applications that are complete by the application deadline.

Financial Aid: International Students
Students from other countries are eligible to apply for financial aid as well. However, we have more limited resources for financial aid for international students. We will not admit an international financial aid candidate for whom we cannot provide aid. As a result, some candidates we would otherwise want to admit will be turned away. We strongly advise international students to apply for financial aid only if there is no other way they would be able to attend SAAST.

The financial aid application must be submitted at the same time as the program application. We will not consider financial aid applications submitted after an offer of admission to SAAST is made. Click here to download the financial aid application.
