2007 SEAS / UTC Summer French Language and Culture Study Program

Through special arrangement with our exchange partner in Compiegne, France, the Universite de Technologie de Compiegne, we are offering a summer opportunity to study French language.

Program Dates
Monday August 6 to Friday August 31, 2007. Students should arrive in Compiegne no later than Sunday August 5.

Number of Spots
Maximum of fifteen students will be able to go. ONLY Engineering students may apply.

Cost Estimate
$250.00 program fee due upon acceptance.  Please make check payable to “The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania." Housing costs are $229.25 (225 Euros) for 2-person shared studio or $598.52 (450 Euros) 1 person apartment. Housing costs include linens, housekeeping, fully equipped kitchen and private bathroom. You make your own arrangements for air transportation. And, plan for approx. $400+/- for food, depending on how well you intend to eat. There will be no additional cost to the student. (Note: These prices are in USD. Please keep a close eye on the fluctuating exchange rates between USD and Euro.)

French Language Level
All levels will be considered, from total beginner to advanced.

Academic Credit
No academic credit will be awarded for your participation in this program. As with any student, however, you may take the French placement exam at PENN upon your return to be placed into the next level of French or to be certified as satisfying the French Department’s Language Requirement proficiency level. Again, no academic credit will be awarded for your participation in this program.
