NSF AWARDS PENN SCIENTISTS $1 MILLION TO IDENTIFY BETTER, EARLIER MEANS OF 'DEBUGGING' EMBEDDED COMPUTERS

Please join us for a morning of presentations and interactive sessions focused on the development of new tools and technologies providing security for core systems and network services:

TOPICS OF DISCUSSION WILL INCLUDE:

  • System self-protection against introduction and execution of malicious code, denial of service, sniffing, and other methods of attack
  • Active networks, security functionality, security services
  • The state of assurance in current operating systems
  • Challenges in developing a long-term architectural framework, operating systems and domain specific languages
  • Privacy issues such as information recording and ubiquitous sensor devices

Professor Dave Farber, former Chief Technologist, Federal Communications Commission, and an expert in networking, security and high assurance systems

Professor Jonathan Smith, pioneer in active networks, focused on privacy issues
