The lab aims to examine the influence of the edge effect and uneven thread distribution on a suture’s ability to bear loads.  The running stitch should allow relatively easy thread redistribution and will be compared to the pulley stitch, which should not permit easy thread movement and exhibited the edge effect during the imaging experiment.  It is hypothesized that there will be higher force at failure for systems sutured using a basic running stitch than those using the pulley stitch.
