The aim of this experiment is to compare fracture energies needed to break wood surrogates with and without glues of different adhesive strength, which is the measure of its ultimate tensile strength. The first hypothesis is that glue with a low adhesive strength will yield lower fracture energy than the surrogate without glue. This is because a lower ultimate tensile strength will result in a decrease in the minimum ultimate tensile strength of the surrogate. The second hypothesis is that glue with a high adhesive strength will not require higher fracture energy than the surrogate without glue. This is because a higher ultimate tensile strength will not result in an increase in the minimum ultimate tensile strength of the surrogate.
