and Dermabond Displacement

Objectives
- To quantify planar displacements and
strains and determine vertical mattress suture and Dermabond performance
for resisting separation under quasi-static tensile load.
- Understand the experimental approaches
and techniques needed to measure displacement of the surrogate sample
flaps from one another (change in gap distance)
- Become familiar with the experimental
challenges of using image data analysis for deformation analysis.
Hypothesis
It is
hypothesized that the Dermabond liquid adhesive will result in a smaller change
in gap distance under tension than the vertical mattress suture because Dermabond
incorporates the entire length of the wound while vertical mattress stitch only
connects the two skin flaps at certain finite points.
