Full Text
Hypotheses
- The
primary hypothesis is that the normal strain values of synthetic sutures,
staples, and adhesives will be significantly different to each other.
- The
secondary hypothesis is that the normal strain values of staples will be
significantly less than the other two wound closure techniques.
Objectives
- To
understand the experimental approaches and techniques needed to estimate
displacement data and derive strains for simple uniaxial loading.
- To
become familiar with the experimental challenges of using image data
acquisition of deformation analysis.
- To
develop methods for defining mechanical performance criteria and testing
their applicability for a real-life scenario.
- To
become familiar with the use of ANOVA and one tailed t-tests for
statistical analysis.
