Education:

PostDoc, (2008), Universität Stuttgart
Ph.D. (Dr.rer.nat.), Materials Science, (2007), Max Planck Institute for Metals Research
M.S. (Dipl.-Ing.), Materials Science, (2004), Universität Stuttgart

Research Interests:

Currently my research focuses on the temperature dependence of nanoscale friction. I use AFM probe tips with an integrated solid-state heater which enables heating the tip up to 800°C within milliseconds. With these probes I investigate single asperity silicon-silicon contacts in controlled atmosphere.

In general, I am interested in surface science and in lessons we can learn from biological systems.
