This web application uses business and review information from the Yelp dataset to display heat
maps corresponding to the ratings of various businesses across the United States and Canada. The
motivation behind this application was the desire to detect regional differences in how customers feel about
certain chain businesses and categories of business. Is it the case, for example, that people in the Northeast
rate Dunkin Donuts locations more highly than people in other regions of the U.S.? Our application uses
average business ratings and a clustering algorithm to generate heat map images, which are overlaid on a
map of North America provided by Google Maps.
