[11/14/04] There will be a discussion section Friday 11/19 to go over the biology of proteins, in preparation for the Proteomics lectures. The section will start at 1:30; from 1 to 1:30 Miler will have extra office hours for homework questions. Levine 612. CORRECTION:[11/18/04] the Protein section will start at 1 and continue to whenever. Whatever time is left, spilling into lab, will be office hours. No formal lab this week.
[11/7/04] HW 4 TYPO: In question 4, replace all mentions of "T island" with "C island" -- that is, either C or T nucleotides may appear either inside a C island or outside of a C island, and there is no such thing as a "T island." The pdf has been updated to fix this error.
[11/7/04] Links to supplementary readings on hidden markov models and microarrays.
[11/1/04] There will be another discussion section on Friday at 1:00 in
Levine 612 (yes, we have this room; don't let anyone tell you otherwise). Probable topics will be the biology of microarrays in the first half, followed by neural networks / hidden markov models in the second half. Lab will cover linear regression to the extent that you'll need to do it on the homework, and possibly other topics from the gene finding lectures.
[10/27/04] There will be a discussion section Friday at 1:00 to go over the midterm and any other questions. Levine 612.
[10/21/04] The midterm will take place at Towne 321 at 2pm tommorow.
[10/14/04] The sample questions/study guide is now online. The midterm review session will be held in TOWNE 337
[10/13/04] There will be a midterm review session on Monday October 18 at 5pm, location TBA. We will be going over the practice problems (to be posted shortly) and any questions you might have.
[10/12/04] Slight bug in the supplementary handout on motif finding. On the last page, for position 2, A actually appears 3 times in legal positions, not twice, so the resulting probability is somewhat bigger.
[10/11/04] New clarification on HW3 with respect to sensitivity and specificity measures.
[10/11/04] Lab is cancelled this week as the TAs will be away. We will be holding one or two midterm review sessions early next week.
[10/10/04] There is now a clarification about question 4 on HW3. [update] Also question 2.
[10/10/04] Here is an extra handout explaining some of the motif finding in more detail.
[9/24/04] Miler's office hours are cancelled for Monday 9/27. Email him or Yu if you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment.
