USAGE POLICIES
All access to equipment and service is first-come, first-served.
There are no sign up sheets. To book time, contact Glady Gray-Board, facility Co-Director:
by phone at 215-573-5191
by email at ggb@seas.upenn.edu.
Please note:
- People needing Full Support are limited to certain hours during the week. These times are always in short supply. Therefore, it serves the investigator to be trained to be able to work at a less supported level. Refer to the section on Training below.
- People who need only On-Call Support may sign up for an expanded schedule on any 9-5 weekday limited only by the current schedule.
- Only Injury Lab personnel may sign up for off-hours (evenings and weekends) and be charged the No Support rate. The No Support rate option is not available to outside personnel. Sorry!
- It is wise to book all appointments as far ahead as possible. A backlog of two weeks is not uncommon. Generally, any number of hours may be requested for an appointment.
Multiphoton Microscopy
Presently, we do not offer the No Support rate option for this equipment. All other rates and policies apply.
Hours of Operation
Appointments may be scheduled to begin between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Others hours are available by prior arrangement.
All appointments are nominally scheduled for two (2) hours. Longer or shorter appointments are available but the user should state this when scheduling the appointment.
Timeliness
If you know you are going to be late, or if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment please email, call or leave a message.
If you are more than thirty minutes late for an appointment, the appointment MAY be canceled AND you may be billed for the thirty minutes if there was a demand for the equipment during that time.
In order to work semi-independently and be charged the reduced On-Call Support rate, users must be trained. Training is conducted twice a month by Dr. Sanzo on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. These are group training sessions accommodating up to three people in the lab at one time. Each session includes hands-on use of the equipment and software and runs about two hours. It is best if a user brings his/her own specimen slide (refer to the page on Specimen Preparation), but sample specimens are always available if the user prefers.
Most users require two group sessions followed by a second stage consisting of one or more Fully Supported sessions. These are imaging sessions where real work is performed and so are billed at the Full Support rate.
