Current Research InterestsUrban environment brings new behaviors of energy influx with local climate, such as turbulences & laminar layer wind along street canyon, which are characterized as 'the unpredictable' to designers. Current typical solution to this is 'experience-based (biased) approach' by laying out geometries then 'energy assessment' is to be retrofitted. Consequently, this may turn most of 'energy particles' into detrimental resistance to the building, while allowing those beneficial ones to escape. Energy particles in this text can be defined as a perceivable and measurable unit of energy in conceptual term, similar but not limited to the idea of vector data in CFD simulation. My current interests dwell on the theories & methods to identify & manipulate energy potential that ties to the building geometry. Building form will be experimented to enhance natural ventilation, passive cooling and other energy related performances. My recent publication includes BUILDING FORM OPTIMIZATION IN EARLY DESIGN STAGE TO REDUCE ADVERSE WIND CONDITION - USING COMPUATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS for IBPSA Building Simulation Conference 2011. |
