Hi … This is Qunyang Li.

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the NanoTribology Laboratory in the department of mechanical engineering and applied mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania.

Currently, I work at the intersection of mechanics, chemistry, and physics to bridge the atomic-scale origins of friction to the macro-scale mechanical/tribological properties of materials. From atoms, nano-scale stick-slip, to earth, geological-scale earthquake, I am exploring the mechanisms that govern these wide range of instability processes related to friction. Quantitative measurements using various surface/interface science techniques, e.g. scanning probe microscopy and interfacial force microscopy, are my major tools. Based on the experimental observations and the numerical simulations, understanding and modeling of the mechanisms are pursued.

On this website, you will find
