About Me

I am a Masters student in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania, expecting to graduate in May, 2012. My research interests revolves around the areas of Computer Networks, Distributed Systems and Network Security. I work as a Research Assistant under the guidance of Prof. Boon Loo in the NetDB@Penn Research Group at the University of Pennsylvania. As part of this work, I am working on integrating the RapidNet declarative engine to work with ToR to select policies like bandwidth and latency.

During the summer of 2011, I interned at Cisco Systems with the Wireless Networking group at Richfield, Ohio. At Cisco, I was involved in a variety of tasks involving programming and analysis. By making use of Veriwave's Wireless Traffic Generation system, I developed a tool which actively monitors throughput variations across different commits of the Wireless Access Point images. I automated the throughput analyzing system so that the engineers would be warned if the there are considerable throughput variations across different nightly builds. Further, I worked on the wireless access point radio driver and developed certain enhancements related to IEEE 802.11 aggregation and link test features.

Prior to joining UPenn, I graduated in June 2010 with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Birla Insitute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India. During my undergraduate study, I engaged myself in a plethora of activities both on and off campus. As a part of the internship program at BITS, I interned at NetApp with the Storage Management and Application Integration (SMAI) team at Bangalore, India where I developed a performance analyzer for the servers running their storage management application (DFM). I have also attended Microsoft Research India's Summer School on Networking 2009 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India and undertaken a summer internship at the Indian Overseas Bank with their Information Technology group at Chennai, India.

At BITS-Pilani, I was a Student Instructor for their Practice School program where I worked along with the University faculty, administration and industry mentors to provide educational and moral guidance to help the sophomore year students perform better during their summer internships. Further, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for the courses Digital Electronics and Pattern Recognition. I have also served as a core member of the for the Department of CCTV - as a part of which co-directed short films and departmental videos publicly screened at events during OASIS/APOGEE and also conducted workshops on video editing.

I have a liking towards dramatics and have acted in six stage plays during my stay at BITS. During leisure time, I enjoy seeing movies or playing badminton and cricket.
