Angel Caballero was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  In 1980 he obtained a B. S. in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, and worked for six years as a Chemist in pharmaceutical industries in Puerto Rico.  In 1986 he continued his studies, and obtained a B. S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez in 1990. Subsequently, he matriculated for graduate studies in chemical engineering, and obtained his M.S.E. Degree in 1996.  At present, he is a Ph. D. candidate at the University of Pennsylvania.  His research is on the development of an iterative geometric method to solve convection-dominated problems.  One application is in the simulation and control of Czochralski crystallizers.
