Several metropolitan areas, including New York City, Baltimore, and Washington DC, are within two hours by car or train. Just six blocks away from the city's gateway, the Sheraton is the closest hotel to Amtrak's 30th Street Station. Philadelphia International Airport is a 15-minute ride via Lady Liberty Transportation or taxi. Fine dining, shopping, museums, theaters, and public transportation are just outside our doors.

Parking Options

There are several options available to you.

First Option: After taking Exit 345, follow the curve around 30th Street Station and remain on 30th Street until the road ends at Walnut Street. Take a right onto Walnut Street. A University of Pennsylvania Parking garage will be located on the right between 37th and 38th Streets. This garage is open from 6:00 am to 12:45 am and accepts cash or credit card.

Second Option: After taking Exit 345, continue to the second light (Market Street) and make a right turn. Continue for a few blocks on Market Street, then turn left onto 34th Street. Continue down 34th Street past Walnut Street. A small University of Pennsylvania Visitor Lot will be located on the left right after you cross Spruce Street (across the street from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania). This garage is open from 7:00 am to 10:45 pm and accepts cash or credit card.

Third Option: If you continue down Market Street and make a left onto 36th Street, the University City Sheraton also offers parking in its garage.

Metered parking is also available on many of the surrounding streets.

Public Transportation

SEPTA Regional Rail:
Two Regional Rail stations service the area near the University of Pennsylvania Campus: University City Station and 30th Street Station. The University City station is closest to Houston Hall on the University of Pennsylvania campus, and 30th Street Station is closest to the Sheraton.

The University City Station (South Street and Convention Ave) is adjacent to campus and approximately three blocks from Houston Hall. This station is serviced by the R1 Airport, R2 Wilmington/Newark, and R3 Media/Elwyn lines, and you can change to one of these lines at any Center City station if needed. To reach Houston Hall on foot the University City Station, turn right as you leave the station. Then turn left at South Street. At the intersection with 33rd Street, South will turn into Spruce Street. Continue on Spruce Street past 34th Street. Houston Hall will be on your right at 3417 Spruce Street.

All Regional Rail trains stop at 30th Street Station (30th and Market Streets). If traveling to the Sheraton, or if you do not mind a slightly longer walk to Houston Hall, this may be more convenient. The Sheraton is located 6 blocks from 30th Street Station, which corresponds to approximately a 10-15 minute walk. Houston Hall on the University of Pennsylvania campus is located 9 blocks from 30th Street Station, approximately a 15-20 minute walk.

Amtrak:
Amtrak trains stop at 30th Street Station (30th and Market Streets). See information for 30th Street Station listed above under SEPTA Regional Rail.

Philadelphia International Airport:
A taxi ride should cost approximately $20 one-way from the airport.

Additionally, you can take SEPTA's R1 Regional Rail, which departs the airport every 30 minutes and is a 15-20 minute ride from campus. A one-way ticket purchased on-board the train will cost $7. If you save your ticket and present it to the ticket office on the same day, you can purchase a return ticket to the airport for $5. Otherwise, a return ticket is $6 purchased at the ticket office or $7 on-board. For further instructions, refer to the SEPTA Regional Rail directions above.

SEPTA Subways and Trolleys
The Market-Frankford Line (the Blue Line) stops at 34th and Market Streets. Walk south on 34th Street (in the same direction as traffic) to Spruce Street. Turn right onto Spruce Street. Houston Hall will be on your right at 3417 Spruce Street.

Trolley lines 11, 13, 34, and 36 stop at 36th and Sansom Street. To reach the Sheraton, walk one block north to Chestnut Street. To reach Houston Hall, walk South on 36th (towards Walnut Street). Continue on 36th Street to enter the center of Penn campus. When you reach Spruce Street, turn left. Houston Hall will be on your left at 3417 Spruce Street.
