  Taking Penn Engineering Technology to Market
  Boon Thau Loo, professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science (CIS) and associate dean of Masterís and Professional Programs, acknowledges that there is a divide between the worlds of academia and industry. By collaborating on the CIS departmentís first-ever spinoff, a startup called Netsil, Loo and his lab members gained the skills to cross that chasm.

  Students Compete in Healthcare Innovation at Rothberg Catalyzer
  In late March, over a hundred students gathered in the Towne Building to take part in a 36-hour blitz of innovation at the Rothberg Catalyzer Makerthon, powered by the Penn Center for Health, Devices and Technology (Penn Health-Tech). Undergraduate and graduate students from Penn Engineering, Arts & Sciences, Medicine, Dental Medicine and Nursing, as well as The Wharton School, formed multidisciplinary teams to compete in creating prototypes of hardware solutions to address unsolved healthcare challenges.

  Penn Global Seminar provides students with mind-opening experiences
  As part of a Penn Global Seminar offered by the School of Engineering and Applied Science, 15 students traveled to Beijing and Shanghai during Spring Break to learn more about engineering and technology innovations in China. The purpose? To give students immersive, real world experiences to learn how government policies can affect the development of high-tech industry.
