  Penn Engineering Offers Online Certificate in Computer Science Essentials for Software Development
 
Beginning in April, Penn Engineering's Department of Computer and Information Science (CIS) will offer a new series of online courses in software development as part of edX's "Professional Certificate" program. Students will be able to use the Computer Science Essentials for Software Development Professional Certificate to advance their careers and obtain a credential at an affordable cost.

  Penn Program Encourages Philadelphia High School Students to 'Tech It Out'
 
Tech It Out Philly, founded two years ago by Computer and Information Science senior Amelia Goodman, started as a one-day event but has since evolved into an eight-week course allowing students the opportunity to learn about various topics in computer science such as web development, robotics, circuitry and hardware.

  On May 2, 2017, the University of Pennsylvania will celebrate the launch of the Penn Center for Health, Devices and Technology, or Penn Health-Tech, a University-wide effort to advance Penn’s world-class breakthroughs into new devices and health technologies to meet the world’s most pressing health care needs. Penn Health-Tech was established by the Perelman School of Medicine, the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Office of the Vice Provost of Research.

Sacha Best, senior in Computer Science and co-instructor of student-developed course CIS 568: Virtual Reality Practicum, recently formed Penn's Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Association along with fellow engineer Chloe Snyder, senior in DMD, and first-year Wharton MBA student Tian Pei.
