Research Expertise: Human-System Integration, Humans and Automation, Unmanned Aircraft Systems
James' passion is to raise the awareness of the importance of effective integration of humans into the design and implementation of complex technological systems. Through his experience at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, he has worked with a variety of research domains, including missile defense; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; and most recently, aviation. His current research deals with issues such as: human reliance on decision support automation and its effect on system brittleness and resiliency, as well as issues related to the integration of Unmanned Airborne Systems (UAS) into the National Airspace.
