Research Expertise: Cryptography
Tal is a researcher whose general area of research focuses on cryptography and, more specifically, on secure multiparty computation, threshold cryptography, and proactive security. Her works have been instrumental in forming these areas. Recently, she has been working on blockchain technology research. She was a Distinguished Research Staff member at IBM Research, which she joined in 1996, and managed the Cryptographic Research Group from 1997 to 2019. Since April 2019 she has been the Head of the Research team at Algorand Foundation. Tal has initiated and organizes the Women in Theory Workshop, a biennial event for graduate students in Theory of Computer Science. She has served on the SIGACT executive committee, was a council member of the Computing Community Consortium, and served on the board of the IACR.
