Student Checklist

1. Respond to your offer of admission:  Complete your “Decision Form” in your online account portal to officially accept your offer. Submit any outstanding required official documents to Graduate Admissions.

2. Create your PennKey and Engineering SEAS email:

• Your PennKey is your official Penn username and is used to access all electronic/web based systems at Penn. Shortly after you accept the offer of admission, you will receive an email with your PennKey Setup Code and instructions for using it to setup your PennKey and Password. If you have not received your PennKey Setup Code after a few weeks of accepting the offer of admission, please contact the PennKey office.
• Create your SEAS email account. We advise all students to create a SEAS email account. Some official school google documents will require seas email for authentication and review.

3. Hop onto Campus Express: This is your one online stop for most student services at Penn: Wellness (Student Health and Counseling), Residential Services, Graduate Student Center, and much more.

4. Update all required personal information on Path: Emergency Contacts, email and postal mailing, phone numbers, personal information, etc. Please view the check list information guide on here. (Incomplete/missing record information can result in course registration holds.)

5. Take a look at the Graduate Student Handbook. Get acquainted with the policies, engineering’s calendar, and student awards. Our student resources page has links to the Engineering Library, Penn Engineering’s Blog: Medium, and our Career Services team. Lots of useful information on there for your time here, so please take a stroll through and bookmark the page! Please also check out Penn’s Student Services page as well. Penn Clubs provides details about organizations/clubs on campus and allows you to filter based on areas of expertise, program, and other interests.

6. Registration is through Path. Programs should reach out to all incoming Fall students regarding course registration at least a few months before the start of the semester. For a traditional Fall start, programs will be in touch no later than July 1.

7. Register for your PennCard. Make an appointment to pick up your PennCard directly with the PennCard Center.

8. Complete the G-TAP course here: (2024-25 will be here once available).

9. Penn Student Insurance Plan (PSIP): The deadline to waive out of PSIP is August 2024. If you have other insurance already and want to waive out that deadline is quickly approaching. You’ll need to show proof of other insurance as well. All information on PSIP, enrolling in or waiving out, can all be found here. 10. Vaccination records should be uploaded following the instructions from the Public Health and Wellbeing portal. Questions can be directed to the Immunization Compliance Office, part of the Public Health and Wellbeing office. Contact information is on the link above.

11. The Graduate Student Center is part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Education and is a central hub for resources, activities, support, and advocacy for all graduate and professional students at Penn. You can also visit the Graduate Student Center’s Orientation Hub which will be updated throughout the summer for campus items. Resources & Activities from the Grad Center can be found here. For International Students: Once the enrollment form is processed, a student is sent information on beginning the I-20 application process. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides core services to international students. Students should view ISSS’ New Student page with a lot of helpful information. All students will be assigned to an ISSS advisor after they are on campus and have matriculated into the program.
