Going for Gold: Matt Fallon to Compete for Team USA In the News, Students / July 26, 2024 Share: Author: Ian Scheffler The 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris open today and run through Sunday, Aug. 11. Around 10,500 athletes will be competing, including 114 from the Ivy League and 12 from Penn. Six Quakers are members of Team USA and six Quakers are competing for Bermuda, Slovenia, Canada, Egypt, and Nigeria. Matt Fallon (CIS’25, W’25) will represent the United States in the 200-meter breaststroke, which kicks off Tuesday, July 30. Fallon claimed his spot on the U.S. Olympic squad by setting an American record in the event at the U.S. Olympic Trials last month in Indianapolis.
