Dr. Changchun Liu has a highly interdisciplinary background and training spanning Engineering (i.e., electronic, mechanical), Chemistry and Biomedicine, which well equips him to develop cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research at the interface of biomedicine, micro/nano technology and engineering. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry at the Yunnan University, China in 1999 and 2002, respectively, and Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering at the Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IECAS), China in 2005. He received postdoctoral training in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania during 2007-2012. Prior to joining the University of Pennsylvania, he worked as a Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor at the IECAS, China during 2005-2007. With the support of his NIH career development award (K25) (2012-2017), he received training in Biomedicine in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, enabling him to successfully transition from a Mechanical Engineer to become an independent biomedical researcher.
