Four Point Probe Standard Operating Procedure

1. Turn on the power supply.


2. Turn on the multimeters.


3. Press the DCI button on the lower multimeter, so that the upper and lower multimeters are used for voltage and current measurements, respectively.

4. Put the sample under four pin probes.

5. Pull the lever down to touch the four pin probes with the sample surface, so that the current can be observed.

 


6. The power supply must be in CC (constant current) mode.

Note: To set up CC mode, the voltage knob is set to maximum, and the current knob is set to minimum.


7. Set up the current to be 4.53 mA on the lower multimeter. (see ref.[1])

8. Make a four point probe measurement.

9. Push the lever up.

10. Take out the sample.

11. Turn off the power supply and the multimeters.
