How to get to the
American Helicopter Museum and Education Center

About 20 miles west of Philadelphia is the town of West Chester. The museum is located at the Brandywine Airport, just northeast of the town.

DIRECTIONS FROM PHILADELPHIA

Take West Chester Pike, Rt. 3, almost to West Chester. Turn right at the Unpainted Furniture store, and continue to Paoli Pike. Turn left, then take the next right, by the gas station. Continue until you pass the airport runway on the left (you can't miss it). Turn left at the next drive. The museum is located just ahead on the left.

DIRECTIONS FROM OUTSIDE PHILADELPHIA

Aim for Rt. 202 west of the City, near West Chester. Get off at the Boot Rd exit which is about 3 mi N. of West Chester. Follow Boot Rd to the East for about 1/3rd mile and turn R. at the Wilson Road traffic light. After 1/4 mi. turn L. at the Airport Road light. The entrance to Brandywine Airport is less than 1/4 mi. on your right. The Museum is the 2nd large building on your left, and the entrance door is on the far (South) side where parking space is normally available.

BY AIR

The Museum is located at Brandywine Airport (N99). You can fly there in any aircraft that needs less than 3000' of runway. Here's how:

  1. Proceed to MODENA (MXE) VOR
  2. Turn to heading 056
  3. Fly the 056 radial outbound from MXE until 4 DME
  4. Contact Unicom on 123.0
  5. Field elevation is 466 feet
Happy Landings!
