Loyola University Chicago - Chair, Department of Computer Science



[Since several of the Computer Science faculty here at Loyola are in
the types community, we thought that this ad for a new Chair of the
Computer Science department might be of interest to the members of

The College of Arts and Sciences is in the process of a major
expansion of its Computer Science activity, and invites applications
for Chair of a newly formed Computer Science Department.

The CS program, currently a part of a department of Mathematical
Sciences, has 200+ undergraduate and 200 graduate students, offers BS
and MS degrees in CS, and certificate and online programs. The CS
group consists of about 10 tenure-track faculty performing successful,
funded research programs in several areas of computer
science. Continued growth of the Computer Science Department is a high
priority of the College and University, and the successful candidate
will have the opportunity to lead a dynamic and growing department
effective July 1, 2001.

The Chair of the Department of Computer Science will have a balanced
perspective on research and teaching, and work with faculty across the
Department and University to identify and pursue innovations in
teaching, research, and outreach and will lead the Department in the
strategic planning for the future that is currently in progress.

Candidates must be qualified to receive an appointment at the rank of
tenured Full Professor. This is an annual (12 month)
appointment. Candidates must have a strong record of outstanding
research, educational innovation, and administrative
effectiveness. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with
qualifications.
