How do I change my trash folder?

This article explains how to use a folder other than "Trash" for your deleted items. Please follow the instructions under your mail client.

Mac Mail

  1. Make a new folder called Deleted (or whatever you want to call your new deleted items folder).
  2. Select the folder you just created by clicking on it.
  3. Click the Mailbox menu at the top of the screen and select Use this mailbox for Trash.

Webmail

  1. Make a new folder called Deleted (or whatever you want to call your new deleted items folder). To do this, click on the Folders button at the top of the page and then select Create Folder from the Choose Action drop-down menu.
  2. Click the Options button at the top of the page.
  3. Click the Server and Folder Information link.
  4. Under Trash Folder, select the new folder you just created.
  5. Click the Save Options button.

Thunderbird

Thunderbird no longer allows you to change the location of the deleted items folder.
