29th Annual Engineering Career Day
In September, representatives from ExxonMobil, GlaxoSmithKline, Microsoft, L’Oreal, Goldman Sachs and other Fortune 500 companies gathered to provide Penn Engineering students an opportunity to network for their careers. Over 150 representatives from prominent national and international organizations looking to recruit Penn Engineering graduates greeted the 900 students who attended the Career Day event.
Freshman through Ph.D. students had five hours in which to peruse the displays from each company, speak to representatives about career paths, and hand out resumes for potential summer positions or full-time opportunities. Several of the organizations will also return to campus to conduct one-on-one interviews with students from the event. Of the individuals representing their organizations, nearly 60 were Penn Alumni who have launched careers in industry and who returned to connect with our current students.
Career Day is a highly-organized event, in which students are given a brochure listing the companies by major(s) being sought, those looking for summer interns, and those seeking graduate students. Students can then easily identify the organizations that interest them and come prepared to network. A variety of organizations participates, representing manufacturing, R & D, technology, consulting, finance, scientific research and government service fields.
Engineering Career Day is an annual event organized by the University’s Career Services Office and the Penn Engineering Academic Programs Office and Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
