Nader Engheta Receives Honorary Doctorate From University of Stuttgart

Nader Engheta, H. Nedwill Ramsey Professor of Electrical and Systems Engineering, has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Stuttgart in recognition of his achievements "in the field of plasmonics, metamaterials and nanooptics."

Engheta's research interests span the fields of nanooptics and nanophotonics, metamaterials and plasmonics, and optical nanostructure modeling, including nanoantennas, nanocircuits, and nanosystems. Nader is also investigating bio-inspired sensing and imaging, as well as physics and reverse-engineering of polarization vision in nature. He and his group have been developing the concept of optical lumped nanocircuits based on material nanostructures, with the goal of opening the possibility of nanoelectronics with light.

The honorary doctorate will be presented during the University of Stuttgart's annual celebration on Friday, November 18, 2016 in Stuttgart, Germany.
