2025 Sloan Fellow

Jason Altschuler has been selected to receive a 2025 Sloan Research Fellowship, which recognizes early-career scientists in North America. He is among 126 Fellows, chosen from more than 1,000 nominees, who will receive the two-year, $75,000 research fellowship, according to the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Society of Engineering Science (SES) William Prager Medal

John L. Bassani, Professor Emeritus in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (MEAM), has been awarded the 2025 Society of Engineering Science (SES) William Prager Medal for outstanding research contributions in theoretical solid mechanics.

 

 

2025 Sloan Fellow

César de la Fuente has been selected to receive a 2025 Sloan Research Fellowship, which recognizes early-career scientists in North America. 2025 SPIE Early Career Achievement Award — Academic Focus

Deep Jariwala, Associate Professor in Electrical and Systems Engineering is recognized for pioneering contributions towards understanding strong light-matter interactions in quantum-confined excitonic and magnetic semiconductors, and for the development of excitonic metamaterials.

IEEE Fellow

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has announced the election of Cherie Kagan, Stephen J. Angello Professor in Electrical and Systems Engineering, as an IEEE Fellow. This prestigious recognition is conferred upon IEEE Senior Members with exceptional records of accomplishments in fields of interest to IEEE, with a limit of no more than 0.1% of the voting membership being honored each year. Kagan is recognized for her outstanding contributions to colloidal nanocrystals and their integration into optical and optoelectronic devices.

 

2025 Kabiller Rising Star Award

The 2025 Kabiller Rising Star Award honors Professor Michael J. Mitchell for his trailblazing work engineering lipid nanoparticle platforms that deliver mRNA with high precision to targeted cells, tissues, and organs—including the liver, heart, brain, placental and fetal tissues, and immune cells such as T cells.

2025 AIChE Fellow

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has named Ravi Radhakrishnan, Professor and Herman P. Schwan Department Chair of Bioengineering and Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, an AIChE Fellow. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the chemical engineering profession and exemplify the highest standards of leadership, research and service.

National Geographic Extraordinary Changemaker

Shu Yang, Joseph Bordogna Professor in Materials Science and Engineering, has been recognized as one of National Geographic’s 33 Extraordinary Changemakers who are creating a better future for the planet. Fellow honorees include actress Michelle Yeoh, endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh, Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, Africa’s first chief heat officer in Sierra Leone Eugenia Kargbo, and more.
