Penn Engineering is at the forefront of AI education, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs that equip students to lead in this rapidly evolving field.
The Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in Artificial Intelligence, the first Ivy League B.S.E. in AI, provides a solid foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics, preparing students to drive innovation across engineering disciplines. Jointly administered by the Departments of Electrical and Systems Engineering (ESE) and Computer and Information Science (CIS), the program equips students to apply AI in areas such as vision and language, data and society, robotics, and health systems.
The Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) in Artificial Intelligence Online is designed for professionals with backgrounds in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields. It offers in-depth coursework in classical AI, natural language processing, generative AI, and modern deep learning, delivered through a flexible, asynchronous format and supported by a robust ethical framework.
Whether on campus or online, Penn Engineering’s AI programs empower students to drive innovation and shape the future of artificial intelligence.
Zach is pursuing a B.S.E. in Artificial Intelligence at Penn Engineering. He has published research leveraging AI for cancer drug discovery and has presented his work internationally in Spain and Denmark. He is passionate about applying AI to create a better future.
Maya, from Israel, serves on the board of Advancing Women in Engineering (AWE) and has interned at StemRad as a software engineer, optimizing gamma radiation shielding to protect astronauts in space. Outside of Penn, she enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and exploring diverse cultures. Passionate about AI’s transformative potential, she aims to innovate in the finance industry.
Vivasvat is in the Management and Technology (M&T) program, pursuing a B.S.E. in Artificial Intelligence and a B.S. in Economics from Wharton. He has worked on AI solutions for healthcare, sustainability, music, and finance and aspires to innovate at the intersection of AI and business.
Pedro, from Guadalajara, Mexico, is passionate about artificial intelligence and its potential. “I chose the new AI major because it is the most exciting field of our time, and there’s no better place to explore its potential than at Penn.”
Emma is a member of the inaugural Artificial Intelligence class of 2026. She serves as president of the Engineering Student Activities Council, a teaching assistant, and a researcher. She is also a leader of PennQuest and a member of Kite and Key and Alpha Phi fraternity.
Sam is passionate about advancing AI for robotics and healthcare. He conducts research at the GRASP Lab, exploring how foundation models like large language models (LLMs) can be used to train robots. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, playing basketball, and running.
Our faculty members are dedicated to building up the next generation of engineers. In addition to being incredible mentors, they’re leading experts and researchers in their fields.
